Age 66. Came to live in Shropshire from Rochdale Lancs in 1961. Married Marion in 1962, and started playing for Wrockwardine Wood in 1966 in the reserve team. Progressed to the first team. Won the county husband and wife in 1982 and were twice beaten finalists. Won the Coddon Bert Hollinshead trophy also in 1982. Went to Rochdale for the weekend and won the Ashworth cup. Has son Ian who also bowled for the club when age 9. Went into the first team aged 12 but now has retired from bowling. Was Groundsman and treasurer of the club for many years and in 1994 was honoured to be made a life member in recognition of the work he had done. He also plays in the senior citizens league. I first started bowling at Wrockwardine Wood towards the end of the 1984 season. Not knowing anyone at the Club I was first shown the finger and thumb business by two schoolboys Steve Asplin and Glyn Hayward. The next season I played my first league match for the newly formed Third Team side away at the Coddon. Most of my play has been for the third team in Division Four although I did have one season in Division Two and also a few games in the First Division. Since becoming a pensioner I have joined Donnington Wood to get some games on a Wednesday afternoon.
