Wednesday 15th August Bylet 'B' (A)
A damp afternoon after a mornings rain in Bridgnorth, it did rain a little in the second half of the match.  We were off to a bad start with two defeats leaving us 22 chalks down.  Alan Morgan had a very long high standard game and managed a 21-17 win.  Score 1-2 Minus 18.  After the break Dennis won 21-6, his opponent being in his first season.  Bernard produced a good card 21-9 but we didn't do quite enough to win the match.
Final Score 3-5  Minus 3

Wednesday 8th August Abbey 'A' (H)
On a nice sunny afternoon we entertained our Division 3 leaders.  We were well beaten at their place early in the season and with our green running well, we hoped to do better.  Alan Morgan was first off with a perfect start for us 21-2.  Two hard and long games followed with Ken Millward loosing out after a good lead due to some fine bowling by his opponent.  Neil Martin had the longest game and won 21-18.  score 2-1 plus 19.  Bernard did well winning 21-14, this was followed by Dennis 21-16.  Barry had a good game just loosing out at the finish.  A late finish for us at 4. 50 pm but a pleasing result.   Final Score 6-2 Plus 28

Wednesday 1st August British Sugar 'B' (H)
A lovely warm and hazy afternoon for our match.  The British Sugar team beat us 7-1 at their place earlier in the season and we wanted to make up for that.  First off was Alan Morgan with a cracking 21-6 card.  Ken Millward our No. 1 for the day did well too 21-8.  Neil Martin was well down and looked to be heading for defeat but came back strongly to win 21-19.  Score 3-0 plus 30.  Straight after the break Dennis Sims was the coppers man with a 21-5.  Barry Griffin had a sound 21-15 win.  So we made up early season defeat.
Final Score 7-1 Plus 48

Wednesday 25th July Broseley 'B' (A)
It rained before the match but luckily it stopped and we had a dry afternoon.  Two very close and hard fought games to start with and two wins with Alan Morgan 21-20 and Ken Millward 21-19.  Score 2-1 minus 9.  All to play for in the second half but only Barry Griffin 21-15 managed a win.  Final Score 3-5 Minus 28

Wednesday 18th July S. J. Bayley 'C' (H)
A nice warm and sunny afternoon, very nice for a change.  Our No.1 Ken Millward got us off to a good start with a 21-6, closely followed by Dennis with a repeat 21-6.  Neil Martin had a long match but it was well worth it as Neil came off with a 21-11.  Half time 3-0 plus 40.  Not so good in the second half,  both Barry and Roy met good opponents, fought hard but just lost out with 16 each.  Bernard was last on the green, while not at his best won 21-18.  Final Score 6-2  Plus 33

Wenesday 11th July Shifnal 'A' (A)
After a cold morning it did warm up a little in the afternoon.  The Shifnal green looked good but it proved to be a bit too big on the day.  Just the one winner off the first three Neil Martin 21-13.  Alan had a tough game and John after being well up just lost out.  Score 1-2 minus 2.  Barry Griffin was our last man on the green and in a close finish turned out to be our only winner at the back 21-19.   Final Score 2-6 Minus 24

This was John Lycett's last game for us as he and Brenda are moving to live at Prestatyn, we wish them well.

Wednesday 4th July Highley 'B' (H)

A game that I missed due to a day trip away.  The team got off to a good start with a 21-14 card from Ken Millward followed by Alan Morgan 21-17.  This gave us a 2-1 and 5 chalk lead.  Bernard Downes 21-12 kept us in front but it turned out to be our last win.  After winning well away to Highley it was disappointing to lose our first match ever on our home green.  Final Score 3-5 Minus 6

Joby Butler has been taken ill and had a couple of visits to hospital, we hope Joby is soon well and back playing bowls with us.

Tuesday 26th June Highley 'B'                                               League 3 Cup
This match was played at Broseley.  Alan 21-13 got us off to a good start but was the only winner in the first three.  Not any better after the break, Bernard tried to get us going with our best card 21-11, but again our only second winner of the match.  Final Score Lost by 17

Wednesday 27th June Newport 'B' (H)
Our green was slow after the recent rain, it did rain on us but luckily not too much.  Much better for us today back in The league after our cup defeats.  Ken led the way for us with a 21-8, next was Alan 21-12, Roy had a harder game but still won 21-16.  A good half time lead by 27.  A welcome back to the team for Neil Martin, Neil showed us what we have been missing with a coppers 21-4.  Two more wins both 21-12 from Barry and Dennis.  Much more like it.  Final Score 8-0 Plus 62

Wednesday 20th June

No game due to Donnington Wood 'B' having to pull out of the League.

Tuesday 19th June Preston Brockhurst                             Shropshire Cup Round 3
This was our first ever away match in The Shropshire Cup and played at Preston Brockhurst.  It turned out to be a lesson for us because although the team tried hard we did not have a winner.  Final Score Lost by 46

Wednesday 13th June Charlton (H)
After days of dry and sunny weather our green was running well, but just towards the end of the practice the rain came.  The rain was followed by two claps of thunder and although the rain was not too much it was just enough to slow the green down a bit.  Ken Millward was our first off the green with easily the best card of day 21-4.  ALan Morgan had good tussle with Dave Rhodes winning 21-13.  This gave us a good start 2-1
plus 15.  Only one winner after the break but it was a good game by John Lycett 21-9 against Alan Munn.
Final Score 5-3  Plus 15

Wednesday 6th June Sinclair 'B' (A)
A lovely afternoon and the Sinclair green was looking good.Only one winner in the first three, Joby Butler 21-16.  So that at the break we were minus 12.  Our best card of the day, Roy Beddoes 21-11, But with our last man on the green Bernard Downes we down minus 6.  Bernard managed a 21-16 but it was just not quite enough we lost the aggregate by just one chalk.  It was a close game but the Sinclair team did bowled well.
Final Score 3-5  Minus 1

Wednesday 30th May Bylet 'B' (H)
A week ago we had played this team away at Shifnal and won easily and so expected an easy game.  It did rain on and off all day and after several days of wet weather our green was on the slow side.  Roy Beddoes 21-15 was first and a good result for his first game back after two weeks holiday.  Ken 21-19 had a tough game but just made it.  score 2-1 plus 1.  Our captain Bernard 21-8 put us well in the lead with our best card.  Barry 21-17 had a see-saw game and was our fourth winner.  Not the big win we had hoped for.
Final Score 6-2  Plus 10

Wednesday 23rd May Abbey 'A' (A)
A game that I had to miss but I am told that the Abbey green was in a bad state with little grass due to having had too much moss killer applied.  Alan started us off well 21-16.  Ken won 21-18, a close game in the end having been well up early on.  Half time 2-1 plus 5.  Unfortunately that was the end of the good news, we had all three losers including two single figure defeats.  Final Score 2-6  Minus  30

Tuesday 22nd May Bylet 'B'                              League 3 Cup                       Played at Shifnal
Alan led with easily the best card 21-7.  Ken 21-15 our next winner, but Joby just lost out.  This gave us a lead of 15.  John and Bernard both won 21-16.  Barry fresh back off holiday won 21-17.  Final Score won by 29

Wednesday 16th May British Sugar 'B' (A)
The green at British Sugar after days of rain looked lush and was heavy as usual.  It had rained in the morning and a little early in the match and then stopped.  Only one winner out of the first three, Ken Millward 21-15,  Alan Morgan had a close game until 16 across but lost out.  We were hoping for big things from our three but it was not to be, all three losing out. Easily our worsted result ever!  Final Score 1-7 Minus 37

Wednesday 9th May Broseley 'B' (A)
Our first afternoon match in the rain.  It was dry for our practice session but the rain came and continued throughout the game.  Our No. 1 was Alan Morgan and he had a close game until 16 across but ran out 21-16. Joby Butler another close game just winning 21-19.  Our best of the day playing his first match of the season Ken Millward 21-8.  Score 3-0 +20.  Unfortunately only one winner in our last three, but it was a good one, Barry Griffin 21-12.  Final Score 6-2 Plus 18

Wednesday 2nd May S. J. Bayley 'C' (A)

We were under the impression that we were playing on Bayley's bottom green, so it came as a bit of a shock to find we were on the top green.  Still yet another lovely day for us, so off we went.  At No 1, Alan Morgan met a tough competitor, Trevor Austin and although Alan tried hard he went down 12-21.  However John 21-13 and Joby 21-15 brought us back in front by the break.  At the restart Barry 21-4 got us off to a great start, Bernard and Dennis both 21-16 completed a good away win.  Final Score 7-1  Plus 32

Tuesday 1st May Pontesbury 'C' (H)                         Shropshire Team K.O.

This match was played one week early at Pontesbury's request.  Another lovely dry and sunny day for our first cup game.  Success all the way with all six winners for us. Alan Morgan 21-4, John 21-8, Joby 21-13, Barry 21-13, Roy Beddoes 21-8 and Bernard 21-4. Pontesbury's handicap was +16.  Final Score Plus 66

Wednesday 25th April, Shifnal 'A' (H)
A dry day after a couple of days rain left our green heavier than of late.  First off the green with a good card was John Lycett 21-13.  Joby Butler was down early on 10-1 but stuck to it, finally winning 21-19.  After the first three we were 2-1 plus 3.  All three winners at the back the best being Barry Griffin 21-10,  Bernard won 21-13 and with a bit of a struggle Dennis 21-16.  Final Score 7-1 Plus 27

Wednesday 18th April, Highley 'B' (A)
Our first match of the season and our longest trip away to Highley.  We are now playing in Division 3 after our promotion last season.  The Highley green was a bit bumpy and like our own could do with some water to get the grass growing.  The weather was just great for us plenty of sunshine but not hot.  Barry Griffin 21-8 got us off to a great start and was our best winner.  Alan Morgan 21-9 another good card to put us well in front.  Dennis Sims 21-20 had a struggle just winning with his last bowl.  At the half way stage we had the 3 winners and were 26 chalks up.  After tea we just had the one win with John Lycett 21-13 helping us to a convincing win.  Final Score 6-2 Plus
